Mother's Day
Mother’s Day

Moms are often the unrecognized heros in our lives. Mothers never stop being your mom, whether you’re a child, a grown adult, or even a pet, your mom will always be YOUR MOM. Mothers Day is a day that is dedicated to honoring and celebrating mothers and is a tradition in many parts of the world. Originating in ancient times, now evolved into a special occasion where you express gratitude, love, and appreciation for the women who have played pivotal roles in our lives.
This concept can be traced back to ancient civilizations. In Greece there were festivities held to honor Rhea, the mother of the gods. Ancient Romans also celebrated a spring festival called Hilario dedicated to Cybele, the mother goddess. These early celebrations laid the foundation for recognizing maternal figures throughout history.
Our celebration for Mother’s Day now, is because of Anna Jarvis, an American social activist, who campaigned for this official day to honor mothers since 1858. Fast forwarding to 1914 when President Woodrow Wilson officially declared the second Sunday in May as Mother’s Day in the United States. Ever since then, this holiday has been celebrated in the US, and has spread to other countries. It is normal on Mother’s Day for maternal figures to recieve heartfelt gestures, thoughtful gifts, and spend time with their loved ones.
